I just picked up this single a few weeks back and it's been glued to my turntable ever since. I've been told Fountain of Youth were from Fredricksburg, Texas (and are not related to the mob that cut the deranged rocker "Hard Woman.")
This Fountain Of Youth were a superb pop group and this single is a remake of Goffin/King's "Take A Giant Step" (also recorded by The Monkees and Taj Mahal.) Quite frankly it knocks the spots off The Monkees version (and I thought their version was great!)
Fountain Of Youth's version absolutely sparkles from start to finish, the arrangement is wonderful, the vocals are crisp and engaging, it also features beautiful strings and percussion. This is 2:58 of pop perfection!
The flip is an OK dose of garage/folk that I think turned up on one of the Boulders samplers.
