This single is fantastic and might be the best Bob Dylan inspired disc that wasn't recorded by Mott The Hoople. Who is Bill Fay?, He was an incredibly talented singer/songwriter that made this single plus 2 superb albums for Deram , "Bill Fay" 1970 and "Time Of The Last Persecution" 1971, both of these albums are moving and highly original works that I recommend highly, the original records are very rare and expensive but luckily for us Bill Fay heads UK label "See For Miles" have issued both albums plus the 1967 single on one CD, does life get any better than this?

Now onto the single "Screams In The Ears" came to my attention via a great UK pop-sike sampler called "Faded Yellow" it jumped right out at me like some long lost Bob Dylan "Blonde On Blonde" out-take, Fay sounds just like Zimmy and his lyrics are far out to the max. The flipside "Some Good Advice" is also excellent and it seemed this Bill Fay was going to be a force to be reckoned with down the line, but it was not to be. Fay's albums were well recieved by the UK press at the time but the buying public I guess preferred people like Elton John and James Taylor. But for me Bill Fay has become a hero and I dig his records all the way.
