There's secure online ordering and as the publishers send items direct to you delivery is usually swift too. The catalogue's growing all the time, so check back. And if you don't see what you want, they actively encourage suggestions and requests.

The Mooncup is a small rubbery cup used to catch menstrual discharge.

How it it better than tampons?

Better for you: It does not put fibres, bleaches, deodorisers or absorbency gels into your body. It allows the mucous membranes of the vaginal wall to continue their essential cleansing and protective functions. It does not cause Toxic Shock Syndrome.

Better for the environment: Nearly a billion tampons are used in the UK every year, creating an environmental nightmare of landfill sites and water pollution. The manufacture is also resource-intesive, using bleaches to treat cotton and/or rayon. Cotton is the most chemically intensive crop on earth, using around 20% of all agri-chemicals.

Better for your purse: Imagine how much you'd spend on tampons in the 10 or 20 years that the Mooncup will last.

More convenient: It is washed and reused, so there's no need to carry spares.

Just as most corporations are getting out of GM crops, German-based multinational Bayer are buying in. They've taken over Aventis, and so they are now responsible for the overwhelming majority of GM crop trials in the UK, and are pushing the hardest for commercialisation. If we can get Bayer to pull out of GM, the whole UK GM market will collapse. With plenty of other interests in the Uk, they're easy to target. This site is part of the campaign to make sure that happens.

With supermarkets abusing their power and forcing farmers to sell for less while they charge us more, many farmers have bravely decided to go direct to us. All over the UK there are Farmers Markets, where the produce has been grown and/or amde by the stallholder. No more paying over the odds to fatcat supermarket shareholders, and you can also ask the producer any questions about the produce. The site features what, why, and most usefully where the markets happen. Get fresher food, support organic growers, and give the finger to the supermarkets all in one!

Surely one of the greatest uses of the internet, Indymedia is news (written and video) from around the world told by those who are there and without any corporate bullshit. Originally set up to cover the Seattle WTO protests, it was immediatley clear that this kind of reporting is eesential in most major stories that we see on the corporate news, and - especially - for the stories the corporate media won't cover. Radical, unflinching, intelligent, vital. Probably the best news source in the world.

Thorne and Hatfield Moors are the largest remaining lowland peat habitats in England. But this is not enough to stop them being ravaged by US multinational Scotts, extracting millions of tons of peat to sell to garden centres and farmers around the country. We want to stop the destruction. Resistance in the area has been increasing throughout 2001, but we're not going to stop until we've saved the moor, and preferably put Scotts out of business. But for this we need you, so read on...

This website is a must read for all women. There's information on this site that I was having real difficulties finding anywhere else. The really rare information here is the stuff on herbal abortion, it's really empowering to find that you can have control over your own body in an area previously the exclusive domain of doctors. It's not sugesting the complete abandonment of the medical profession, it just gives you sound, reliable information about another choice that isn't widely known about. Theres also great information and charts on knowing your own menstral cycle and why you need to, and how you can affect it.

This is a HUGE load of veggie info, with a massive recipe section (15 categories of bread alone!), extensive listings explaining what various food products are, a Q&A section if you want any info/help from anyone who might know stuff you don't and a whole lot more. It's very well laid out, easily navigable and well thought-out (eg all the recipes have an 'email this to a friend' thingy). Throughtout the site there's an awareness of the reasons for veggieness being varied and leading on to other things, so if you're coming at it from an angle of veganism, organics, kosher or whatever then you're well catered for. Incidentally, I found this site as a link from a Courtney's favourites bit on the Hole website (www.hole.com)
