I do like to indulge in some Hammill from time to time. Got into him when I was c. 15 years old. I didn't realise at the time how much of an influence he was at the time on the likes of John Lydon, Copey etc... I was going through a prog rock phase at the time - the Marillion influence was obvious ("The game is 'Over' ...") and tried to write my version of 'Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers'. But retrospectively I realise how much an influence he was, I mean 'Nadir's Big Chance' is total prototype punk! Did go to see him in the mid eighties - just him and a piano (Mitchell Library, Glasgow) and then the VDGG reunion in 2005. Never thought I'd see the day... God bless his cotton socks!
