Suuns – Felt. Better than their previous album, and they absolutely don’t sound like Clinic anymore, but, hmmm, I dunno, it’s got that modern electro alt rock sheen that leaves me a bit cold. This is pretty good though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUCtZNoj_ww

Them Moose Rush – Don’t Pick Your Noise. Ludicrously named Croatian power trio. Quirkly, mathy metal, bit like a proggy take on Faith No More or Jane’s Addicition. Better than that sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve0TBgagSZQ

Cavern Of Anti-Matter – Hormone Lemonade

Alasdair Roberts, Amble Skuse & David McGuiness – What News

Dungen & Woods – Myths 003

Chris Carter – Chemistry Lessons Vol 1

The Myrrors – Lunar Halo

Elephant9 – Greatest Show On Earth

Queens Of The Stone Age – Villains. Been meaning to check this out for a while. Having really liked pretty much all their albums, this one didn’t grab me so much. More than ever, QOTSA sound like a Josh Homme solo project and Mark Ronson’s production is pretty soulless, being the epitome of that modern Protooled sound (or whatever they use These Days)

Procol Harum – Home. Still exploring these guys, and I really liked this fourth album from 1970. It’s both bluesy and proggy, bit like a less showy Traffic. This track in particular is fantastic, basically A Darker Shade Of Black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK_vthmSSlQ (Great period film too)

Listen With Father:

A selection of Black Sabbath. Is it OK for dad to start headbanging at the lights while explaining why ‘Into The Void’ is one of the greatest songs ever written? Of course it is.

The Vinyl Countdown – B:

The Beyond – Chasm. Alt/prog metal guys from the early 90s, and possibly the only band of any note to come from Derby. I love this album because it’s full of great riffs, catchy arrangements, clever (if slightly impenetrable) lyrics, and it’s got a singer who can actually really sing. There should be a monument to these guys somewhere, but as it is, said singer was recently elected mayor of Derby. Really. If you like music of a heavier persuasion, this is a must listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbUbJNuJmLc&t=596s
