Au Pairs ā€“ Live In Berlin. So, having enjoyed my trawl through my CD shelves, I thought Iā€™d have a dig through the vinyl this year, in a methodical fashion of course. First up is this fine live album from feminist post-punkers the Au Pairs, who I heard from a friend at university at a time when my main bands were Hawkwind and VDGG ā€“ not sure why, but I loved them straight away. Anyway, this is basically an in concert version of their first album, with the tracks a bit rougher and harder, and all the better for it. Love this song, one of the best basslines ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm6Y0ccjiFY

Great album that. We did some garden landscaping work for one of the ladies in Au Pairs many years ago. I was very excited when I found out, and thought I'd ask a bunch of questions (in the nicest possible fan-ish way) during a tea break. Turns out she doesn't want anything to do with that part of her life, it's as if it didn't exist. She's moved on and never looked back apparently. Sure other performers have done this too (well Barrett fer one, but as we all know, he had good reason). Though looking on Facebook etc.....seems she's happy to plough that furrow now. Maybe she just didn't want to talk to a smelly labourer ;)
