Stray – Mudanzas / Move It. So, Mudanzas is album number four, where they get a load of horns and an orchestra in. When it’s good, it’s bloody good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXBz6Pc7uD4 Move It is where they do a decent job of turning Cliff Richard’s first single into a slightly sinister chugger, but overall there’s more filler than usual.

Killing Joke – s/t. Err, don’t think I’d heard this before! It’s actually a lot more polished than I expected, but clearly massively influential… To these ears, ‘Requiem’ sounds like a tougher, more nihilistic version of Hawkwind circa ‘77/78, but then everything sounds like HW to me… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7WPI4TJImo

Highlights on the educational jukebox this week included: the Sab’s wonderful (though usually overlooked) other single from the 70s ‘Never Say Die’; the Maiden’s fist-pumping, TOTP-appearing classic ‘Running Free’; and the Rex’s ‘Children Of The Revolution’, cos the girls once sang it in a school assembly…

Up-Tight – Five Psychedelic Pieces. I have a feeling that this was a Cope recommendation from this very site. Had no recollection of it other than that. These guys are Japanese, so the title should actually be Five Psychedelic Pieces Played Live In The Basement Of Hell. Not unlistenable, and quite engaging in parts, but overall, never destined to set the world on fire. This is pretty nice though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsKUAvVdvIA

Tangerine Dream – Revolution Of Sound. Rather wonderful documentary that traces the history of Edgar Froese and his merry men as they create a new type of music. Extensive voiceover from Froese himself, sounding not unlike Werner Hertzog. Some awesome archival footage too.
