Very sad. I do love a bit of steely dan. The riff on reeling in the years is one of my all time favourites. Every time I hear it I can't stop gurning

RIP

"Surf and/or die" is a brilliant song with some fine spacy guitar work.

R.I.P.

Sadly not that old really, in the scheme of things.

Off topic:

Were it not for the ridiculously hiked prices of tickets, with added tax, handling fees and whatever other bollocks - compounded by recent UK voting stupidity depleting the dollar/pound exchange rate - we would have seen Steely Dan's recent NYC residency live in October, last year.

If memory serves, it was pushing 300 quid in total!! Instead we saw four reggae and ska bands for ten bucks! No booking fee and a free slice of pizza with each pint. And i was given two CDs by one of the bands. And even namechecked from the stage by the main band.

I love the Steely & am very sad that Walters died. I loved his early long haired round glasses look, his almost robotic prescence, his diffidence; all of which belong to a band that have provided sublime moments musically for me, particularly when driving around Cornwall on holiday & dancing around a fire with the sea in view on a glorious evening. My Steely Dan moments are bloody great.

I've been having a Dan listening splurge of late...there's some fine live stuff out there. This is hard to take in, a fan since Countdown. RIP :(
