I went to see Stewart Lee last week. He had some late 50s / early 60s John Lee Hooker playing over the PA before the show and some Fall stuff playing in the interval that had very similar rhythms to the Hooker tunes. I know a few of their albums but as far as I am aware had never heard anything from them like this before.

Any idea what album that might have been?

I'm struggling on that, sorry Ian. This maybe??

Not a million miles away but much closer to Beefheart's blues in terms of the sound of the tracks he played. I've only got Witch Trials, 50,000 Fall Fans, Extricate and a two cd comp made by a mate so my ignorance is deep.
