Status Quo - On The Level,Quo,Blue For You derderderdahderdertimes1000 give Quo their due they have a certain charm that with hindsight you can see is about to lose its flavour, Blue for You is a clear signpost of what lies ahead

I don't think you even needed hindsight to see things were going downhill with Blue For You (though they still had a powerful feel that went when Coughlin left). I was disappointed with On The Level, too, though like BFY it had its moments, too.

My CD copy of On The Level finishes with the live EP so my view is slightly skewed, BFY has Rain and Mystery Song which probably accounts fot its high standing amongst Quo fans but a lot of the rest is what cd skip buttons are for, I recently purchased Piledriver through to BFY after having owned only the Live LP for too many years and found something good to listen on everyone bar BFY. I know the generally accepted rule of thumb for Quo is pre live LP great post Live LP tread carefully or not at all but had BFY been released after the live LP I don't think that opinion would need revision. It also buggers up my long held opinion that punk ruined Quo as unable to carry on as they were or go the HM harder faster bigger route that many rock bands went down they opted to go pop instead, seems that they were well on the way already
