Julian Cope presents Head Heritage

I’ve heard and read a couple of interviews with His High Bobness over the last week in which he pretty much says the same thing - part of which was his recollection of touring ‘School Halls’ with The Ramones and Talking Heads in 1976. Strange I’m thinking cos I thought the only time The Ramones played in England in 76 was the Independence Day gigs with the Flamin’ Groovies at the Roundhouse. In June 77 they were back at the Roundhouse with Talking Heads and the Saints ( who were great and not, thank God, the Boomtown Rats!). They did play some gigs in the two week before this, one of which was Slough College (wish I’d known) and the support here may have been the Rats as a very poor substitute for the Saints. So: a college gig (standard touring venues at the time), not a school hall, and 77 not 76. Hope that clears that up.
