I do hope so. A really interesting point in the last paragraph, 'The Chili Peppers last album, ‘I’m With You’, was rated at DR4 [dynamic range 4 rating], but on vinyl it measures DR9,”' Theres a good reason to buy vinyl. Mind you the music I listen to, well most of us here listen to really, doesn't suffer from this problem so much. Obviously though, its not that vinyl has intrinsically more DR as a medium, far from it in fact. But you'll get more minutes per side of vinyl if you have a wider DR than if its a 'hot' loud mastering.

Thing is, music with good dynamic range isn't going to sound that great thru ear buds on an ipod or a similar thing, so most tunes are still going to be heavily compressed because ear buds are their main target platform. Well that, and tinny little speakers.
