My only comment would be that this is "an argument about the music BUSINESS", and has very little to do with "MUSIC" in the artistic sense.
I think the radical "punk rock"* solution to the whole mess is for artists to only play for free for their friends and never copyright their songs! You know, kinda how it was before Thomas Edison came along. ;-)
So that's it basically: the notion that music is "objects to be owned". Like how "land" was once where you lived, now it's a commodity you can buy (or will have to pay rent to the owner otherwise.)
* Though of course "punk" and "rock" are both 20th century historical fads and there is nothing revolutionary about either anymore. ;-) !!!
