Just no way to talk to anyone about this stuff, is there ... too much heat on all sides.
No one is stealing my music, or buying it much either, and I'm not complaining about it. What's missing is a large budget with which to shove the more accessible bits of it down people's throats. And record it properly in the first place. And/or a more outgoing personality on my part, perhaps. Whatever.
I'm glad the debate is happening as to what's right, what's wrong, what needs to change, and maybe how it could happen. The worst thing that could happen, though, is for everyone to get bogged down in quibbling about it.
*¡Love to all of you!*
Meanwhile I am going to continue to make music, record music, release it by whatever means are available and appealing, & play as many shows as I can with as many bands as I can (cos that's what I like to do with my life & time).
Complaining about the structure of the industry is like complaining about politics ... not much you can really, practically, do about it except continue to live as well as you can in the space you're left with. I don't like Spotify or "sell" my music through it, but I do have a free account and sometimes use it to preview things or find out what they are. Stuff I really want to hear, I tend to buy on record. But that is not to say that I am right or that this is the only way. I don't have much income, so records are a luxury I maybe shouldn't afford. But ... only live once, don't we, far as I can tell!
