Apparently he's been dead for over a week now, but I'd read nothing about it until I came across an obituary in Today's i newspaper.

Farewell to the man who was arguably the greatest bluegrass banjo player of all time, as well as co-founding the awesome Dillard & Clark collaboration, whose influence on the emerging country rock genre perhaps outstrips even that of the Flying Burrito Brothers.
