Combat Rock – The Clash
My favourite Clash LP by a country mile.
Disintegration – The Cure
The LP where Cure returned to doing what they do best. Sounding miserable. Fabulous!
I’m Sick Of You – Iggy & the Stooges
Comes complete with awesome title track.
Wolf Flow – Loop
Still sounds the biz.
Oracular Spectacular – MGMT
Kids is a good pop song, but is the clear stand out track for me.
Judy’s In The Basement – The Ramones
’75 recordings. They probably sounded even more out of sync back then!
Baby See Sessions / S/T – Rolling Stones
Baby See is, as the title suggests, the BBC versions of lots of the early stuff. Good stuff which lead me dig out the debut LP which is to the 60’s what The Ramones 1st LP was to the 70’s. Short and to the point. Apparently the UK version with Mona on it is no longer available.
Greatest Hits – Alvin Stardust
Scoff all you want! Those early 45’s are fab, especially My Coo Ca Choo and Red Dress!! I’m less keen on the rock’n’roll re-workings like Bonnie Marone, mind.
Handsworth Revolution – Steel Pulse
Forget the British reggae tag. This is a great reggae LP per se.
Can’t Buy A Thrill – Steely Dan
Other than Do It Again, I don’t like this anywhere near as much as I used to TBH.
Vega / Rev – Suicide
The under-rated 2nd LP. Probably my favourite by them.
S/T – Television
The sort of forgotten 3rd LP which seemed to promise a new beginning but now seems to be the end. It’s not Marque Moon, but it’s not bad.
The End Of All Things – Tropic Of Cancer
One of the best acts to have emerged in recent years AFAIC. Very early 80’s doomy stuff with drum machines. Like a cross between Joy Division and Virgin Prunes.
