In brief, I thought that it had some lovely moments, principally the straightforward acoustic-pastoral numbers, but that ultimately it didn't really work as an opera and that a lot of the cod-classical bits were somewhat half-arsed. There's half a decent solo album buried in there somewhere.
What was it Cope said about avoiding falling into the serious artist trap? Albarn is the perfect example, hence the wind-up at the beginning of the review...
