Withnail And I: The Complete Soundtrack

It's been a long-held ambition of mine to compile a complete and unexpurgated 'Withnail And I' soundtrack.

All the tracks, in one place, in the correct sequential order in which they occur in the film.

I'm now within a gnats of achieving this.

Thing is, the more I research it the twistier it gets. Several of the tracks that appear in the film are not as advertised. The UK and USA editions of the soundtrack album (both including a slightly different incomplete selection) were notoriously simultaneously withdrawn, almost upon release, for licensing issues (despite the coup of the legitimate inclusion of an original Beatles recording), as oft stated, in particular for the use of two Hendrix tracks.

It hasn't helped that they also included in the soundtrack one or two specific recordings of pieces that they either couldn't license or couldn't afford/weren't prepared to pay to license so stated that they'd used alternate recordings as a subterfuge.

You'd think by now that the film had made enough money to come clean on this and properly license an audiophile release of the complete soundtrack with all the versions used and pay everyone properly for them eh?
