Apparently Levene has been refused entry into Japan for the dates over there!

Maybe someone in the Japanese authorities has checked out the references to Levene in Wobble’s autobiography. Hope that they do some more UK dates and looking forward to hearing the digital release, although shame it’s not on vinyl – then again, I remember back in the day my inadequate turntable being unable to cope with the sheer depth of bass on the Metal Box and the record kept skipping (Albatross was the main culprit).

'Metal Box in Dub' is being performed at the Trades Club, 23rd March.
Last time I saw Keith Levene was 35 years ago with the Clash at the Roundhouse.

No its not. Lydon has sent lawyers letters to Wobble and Levene threatening them and is copyrighting the words "Metal Box" . . . .

Oh right. That'll be a shame. I mean I imagine they're still coming, just not flying that particular banner perhaps.

I saw the right horrible John Redwood on Newsnight the other night with his steely eyeballing stare and his monotone boorish "I'm right, you're wrong" rhetoric and I was thinking who does he remind me of? JR/JR.

Interesting that Lydon thinks he can copyright the words Metal Box - my Dad worked for many years for the Metal Box Company, who actually made the packaging for PIL's metal box - at the time they were the largest packaging firm in Europe, before becoming assimilated into some larger multi national. Have to say that Lydon increasingly comes over as a bit of a twat, which is a shame - Wobble, on the other hand comes over as very genuine and likeable.

Hmmm - that link isn't working for me. Looks like he must have threatened msn with a lawsuit just for mentioning the words "Metal Box" in their article. He'll probably have this thread shut down too. It'd be funny if Wobble and Levene decided to re-promote the gig as "Second Edition in dub".

A Dub Box Melt or Tabled Box Mu might suit Wobble. Very churlish of Lydon. Even he must recognise that Wobble and Levene define the sound of that record. He's probably miffed and surprised that they're working together again and may just make a little money.

Well they did it. No writs were served - Not on stage anyway. Jah 'the Hoffmeister bear' Wobble, Sneaky Keith Levine, a fantastic drummer, brilliant brilliant trumpet player and pitch perfect Rotten / Lydon lookalike. I liked it best when the trumpeter was on - properly spacey. They played Metal Box. I guess? I'm not overly familiar, recognised bursts of lyrics, careering, Annalissah. Sounded great whatever it was. Encored with Public Image and then lots more bass-ey, spacey crunchieness. John Robb bobbed up at the end and skanked it up a notch. Really really great. Someone said they're doing the Ruby Lounge in Mankchester tomorrow. That would be well worth checking out.
