MingTP's 'Resurgence' thread got me thinking ... about one or two recordings which never saw the light of day in any other format. Some free with magazines, sometimes because cassette had the duration to add extra bits that wouldn't fit on the vinyl or CD editions.
Off the top of my head (without going diving into drawers full of tapes):
Select Magazines 'Secret Tracks' collections, full of demos and unreleased versions.
'Hoopla' a compilation of bands on the La-Di-Da label (including such delights as Daisycutters, Popguns, How Many Beans Make 5, North Of Cornwallis, Riot Of Colour and a host of other indie bands).
Big Country's 'The Crossing' (although admittedly these were almost certainly available as vinyl b-sides).
And I've never seen a vinyl edition of the BMG cassette I have of the 'Withnail & I' soundtrack ... only the DRG (presumably USA release) vinyl/CD/Cassette ... which has all the songs, but not all of the film score tracks which are all present on the BMG edition, although this lacks two of the songs. Presumably there was a vinyl version of the BMG edition?
Hmmm ... possibly then it's only the cover tapes and tiny indie labels bits that have completely exclusive tracks?
Anyone think of any others?
