Not terrible value for under £40 but when would I ever have time to listen to it properly? Never is a fair bet or at least not before I am far gone in age and decrepitude. When it comes to favourite artists I always have good intentions but tend to spend unwisely so I will probably have to say "no thanks" to this one. Then again it's an investment so not really as expensive as it looks. (here we go again ......)

I'm prepared to bet fifty English pennies that you change your mind and buy it!

I don't think six quid a disc is bad at all, especially if the packaging is as good as claimed.

I ordered my set last week. My bank statement shows the payment as having been made to "Mr Peter Hammill", so it looks as if the man himself has brokered this one from his own pocket. We're not talking industry greed here - just a modest, gifted and unique cult artist putting out an interesting product for his fans. Much like Julian Cope does, in fact. Do we ever question value for money here?

Given the pleasure Hammill has given me over the last three and a half decades, I'm more than happy to subscribe to this. Sure, I'm not gonna sit down and wade through seven hours plus of music this raw and real in a single session, but like fine wine, it'll sit maturing on my shelves until I'm ready to savour it.

And with only 2,000 copies, there's no way I want to miss out on this.

Go on...you know it makes sense!

Bugger. You're right.

It ships Feb 13 so I will just have to think of it as a Valentine's gift to .... myself. That's actually quite Hammillesque in itself!
