Göttsching & Hoenig: Early Water
Jan 13, 2012, 16:38
This recent find is doing bad things to me. I've done a search on here & haven't found any previous threads, so hopefully this post turns some discerning krautrocking heads onto a new hidden gem (who'd have thought they would still exist? Conventional wisdom has it that this music entered the realm of 'diminishing marginal returns a long time ago!)

It was recorded in 1976 but not brought out until 1995. Lost classic? Well, I'd have it over E2-E4 quite comfortably at least. It's got the propulsion of that record without being so overtly 'proto-techno' and in addition, has more of the drift you know & love from A.R.T.

Hoenig was in Agitation Free for a good stint and filled in for Peter Baumann with Tangerine for an Aussie tour and the Royal Albert Hall concert in '75. He also did 'Timewind' with Klaus Schulze and produced Harold Budd's 'Lovely Thunder'. Have a listen.

Here's the LP in its entirety;
