OK so I was never really a fan but I kept hearing that he did really downbeat/depressing stuff in the 50s. I think I found one of those albums, something called Where Are You?... (ho ho ho!) The strings are as schmaltzy as usual but boy are the lyrics grim. Dunno if I can even take another listen at that...
