Even worse is when you DO pay for adverts and the magazine continue to ignore your releases ... no names
Can't say that doesn't irritate but I guess if you want a clean game then you have to take it both ways. I stopped advertising in a well known "roots" publication for that very reason. Last successful record I was involved in releasing we spent nothing on print advertising or on-line gubbins. Just a few quid with Amazon and the work of a passionate and committed publicist. The rest was word of mouth and the fact that the artist (who is American) did numerous tours and played London something like 15 times in three years. They understood the need to not just show up once a year.
