i doubt this will ever happen unless downloads sounded like 24 bit mastering which they don't. There is always going to be a market for real sound quality. Interestingly though, i can't believe DVD audio didn't take off and replace cds. I thought there was some great potential in sound quality for DVD audio. I bought a DVD audio copy of T.Rex's "electric warrior" and i pretty much couldn't tell the difference between that and the vinyl copy and that is a pretty good from a person who usually thinks records sound better than cds.
