I doubt very much that the dealer prices reflect the prices you were paying. Would not surprise me if some of the exclusive product was charged at a token amount to cover manufacture and royalties only.
well the limited double vinyl set from Mastodon had a dealer price of £28 + VAT according to my shop friends, which would explain why it was retailing at between £39-45
it's the labels making all the dough not the shops from what i can see
how a dealer price of say £10-15 can be put on a single LP meaning it has to retail nearer £20 is beyond me. there's plenty of us around with labels that know that can't be right!
it's making things expensive for the sake of it, it seems
Blimey. £28 is an outrage. What are they packaged in raw silk and personally gift wrapped by the Dalai Lama? Even with 180gm vinyl a nicely packaged double set would be under £3 each to make on a run of 2000 plus the mechanicals. Lets say £4 at the outside.
So what's the point of the whole exercise? As you say beyond me too.
