Tipped off by the video link on these very pages not too long ago, I regressed deep into Ladbroke Grove 70’s. Mainly around Paul Rudolph’s guitar playing. The Deviants 3rd Twink Think Pink Pink Fairies Never Never Land Pink Fairies What a Bunch of Sweeties (that I still can’t get into) Robert Calvert Lucky Lief Hawkwind Astounding Sounds Hawkwind Quark (bonus tracks) and Here and Now Give and Take thrown in for good measure. All tapping into one of the many rich musical veins of that neighbourhood and my old stomping ground.

Cheers for the link to that unfinished but most definitely not uninteresting doc, caruso! The album definitely deserves to be as popular as Spirogyra, Jan Dukes de Grey and the like....although all of those cats deserve to be much better known themselves. The songwriting was brilliant so I'll be looking out for that potential new album. Tony Durant seems like a really nice guy. There's also an odds and sods collection I've never heard called "Fuchsia, Mahagonny & Other Gems" I might pick up at some point. Ta', redfish! Love the passion you bring to these threads.

The Who – Sell Out Motorhead – Bomber Flaming Groovies – Flamingo Fields of the Nephelim – Earth Inferno Fugazi – The Argument Free – Free absolute corker, wonderful album Ministry – Land of Rape & Honey dug this out to see if I wanted rid of it, and enjoyed it so much it will probably make it into next week Husker Du – Warehouse Songs & Stories MC5 – Back in The USA not a wasted minute, a gem PJ Harvey – Let England Shake still really enjoying this, bears repeated listening Can – Ege Bamyasi never really rated this, was quite surprised at all the praise this got a couple of weeks back, still strikes me as a lesser part of the can canon Celtic Frost – To Megatherion UNGH! Dave Lee Roth – Eat ‘Em & Smile probably the best advert for Steve Vai this side of the PIL CD, wish I could find the interview where someone explained that when Vai,Sheehan and Coverdale were in Whitesnake they had their own individual areas taped on the stage trhat only they were allowed to enter and each had their own 20min solo spot to do with whatever they wanted Boris & Merzbow – Sunbaked Snowcave The Very Best of Doo Wop Shades of Deep Purple Ramones – Leave Home the best thing ever [this week] Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath the best thing ever no2 these two are top of my list this week, almost certainly somethi g else will be next week & a bunch of Yazoo,Thin Lizzy & JAMC 12 “ singles I found collecting dust in a corner Late entry Mahavishnu Orchestra - Apocalypse I loathe all that Mahavishnu speedy jazz wank, and when someone pointed out they liked this on face I was fully prepared to pour scorn, but on listening I found that George Martin had sprinkled magic fairy dust on this , reigned in the faster than thou stuff and actually made a decent album, checked out the Emerald follow up, back to the jazzwank, still proof along with Gong Floating Anarchy that even the vilest of musicians have a decent record in them somewhere [except Paul Weller]

Fabric - A Sort of Radiance Absolutely lovely slab of vinyl. First release on a new label called Spectrum Spool, run by EMeralds chap. Really lovely cover, and gorgeous synthscapes on the vinyl. If you like Emeralds and the like, snap one of these up before they go - there are only 500 I believe. Peeking Lights - 936, Tame Impala - Innerspeaker Still enjoying these lots. Tradi-Mods vs Rockers CD 1 of this double set is stuck in my CD player. Hakobune - Where I Belong Heard about this from the Apollolaan Facebook page. Beautiful ambient recordings, with all proceeds going to the Japanese tsunami and earthquake relief via the Red Cross. http://hakobune.bandcamp.com/album/where-i-belong Get it now, it really is lovely, apart from being for a good cause. Yes - Close to the Edge Got the bonus tracks jobbie out of the library last week as I hadn't heard the extra ones before. Pretty good too, although I spent most of the time listening to the album itself!

I think it will survive the spring clean, haven't listened to it in yonks and thought programmed drums, samples that will sound rather old hat, but it's fantastic, been listening to the Revolting Cocks and 1000 homo DJs and they're equally good. Im somewhat annoyed that I can't find the Power of Lard ep, it's not under M for Ministry, B for Biafra, L for Lard or the big pile of 12" singles hidden in the corner, maybe I should try T for 12 or E for EP

Every time I think "oh, Ive been ignoring this one" I go back and find out why. Medicore by their standards. machineryelf wrote: Late entry Mahavishnu Orchestra - Apocalypse I loathe all that Mahavishnu speedy jazz wank, and when someone pointed out they liked this on face I was fully prepared to pour scorn, but on listening I found that George Martin had sprinkled magic fairy dust on this , reigned in the faster than thou stuff and actually made a decent album, checked out the Emerald follow up, back to the jazzwank, still proof along with Gong Floating Anarchy that even the vilest of musicians have a decent record in them somewhere [except Paul Weller] Wont hear a word against Apocalypse. Glad you like it a bit. It's gorgeous. Jazzwank is all in the ears of the beholder. I know some people who think Bolin is total jazzwank and "Play Me Out" too. Which is self-defeating madness to me. BTW the Steve Vai's shows with Zappa Plays Zappa were really good and evidence for the defence but I agree on "Eat 'Em" though I like "Skyscraper" too, especially for his acoustic playing.
