Boris and Ian Astbury
Sep 05, 2010, 20:51
Just back from my hollibags in south of france and have today picked up a copy of the new Boris / Ian Astbury album. Just giving it a first play now with some trepidation....never was a fan of The Cult, so not sure if i'm gonna like it....

It's OK, but neither artist's best work, in my opinion. The version of 'Rain' (without Astbury) I really like, and the last track... the whole project sort of finishes where it should have started. The first two songs would have made pretty good Cult tracks, but are generic rock by Boris's standards; a shame as I think it was an interesting idea for a collabaration. I still think if they do some live shows together they could be pretty special.

yeah...first impression is that some of it is pretty Cult-like (what I know of the Cult that is). It's pretty short too. I thought that it was a full length album, but it's more like an ep. Will give it another spin in a wee while.
