...playing two Italian shows, and the garage in London on September 11th and 12th. More to come, I imagine. Original line-up, citing "unfinished business" and the world being even worse today than back in the day so presumably in even more need of fiery politicised dub-punk-jazz ranting. Still, exciting news.

I wondered when this would happen - the Pop Group being just about the only significantly influential post-punk band whose original members are all still alive not yet to have reformed. In a way I think it's quite cool that they waited until after the post-punk revival had subsided awhile to do this, considering the mint they could have made if they'd got back together five years ago like the Gang of Four did. I was also chatting with some friends about the possibility of a Birthday Party re-union but I guess Rowland S Howard's death has permanently scotched that prospect.

I was going to say that. But I didn't. And you did. And now I feel foolish.

True - but then I'm fairly confident that'll never happen. When asked about the subject, Julian generally gives the impression he'd rather sell his family into slavery than work with them again.

Not forgetting that Tracey 'Paunchy Cowboy' Pew passed some years back & that Cave's relationship with Mick Harvey has disintegrated somewhat. On a happier note, good to see that Simon Bonney is returning from obscurity with a solo compilation & new tour on the horizon. Always preferred him & Crime & the City Solution to the Bad Seeds to be honest...
