Chrisma

Hello dear Heads!
I´m brandnew here, and my huge entry was Julian´s Krautrocksampler. But that´s a long story, meanwhile. I just like to say, that i´m so thankful for the sensibilisation and "re-socialisation" to my own german roots. Definitely one of the biggest experiences ever!

First, i like to thank you for this wonderful forum. There´s so much inspiration and especially so much secret music to discover. That´s just lovely and essential work for everyone who´s a real searcher.

And second, close to this, i like to (i hope so) open up another pandoras box into this context. Today, destiny has given me this crazy thing:

http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/chrisma

It´s a Band from Italy, late 70s. Very unique but also with strong blends from Neu!, La Düsseldorf, Bowie(Low), Bauhaus, Joy Division, Kraftwerk and many more. I think it´s a must for the Unsung Gallery. Maybe you think too...

...hope you enjoy it!

(and please excuse my "autodidact-english". It´s weird sometimes, but i´ll try my best ;-) )

kind regards,
Tosh

Welcome!

This (and the other forums) are a great place to be. There are occasional arguments about things, but they are occasional and you should not let that keep you away.

Just found this:

Yep, there does seem to be a Neu!/Kraftwerk connection with this band...

Welcome Toshey, despite my earlier facetious comment. I've listened both to your link and the youtube url Lawrence posted and yes, they are indeed rather good. I'm now off to check on discogs and amazon to see if any of the back catalogue is still in print...

Love Chrisma. Their first two albums are full of motorik grooves in a fun, new wave context. Well worth listening to. The last track on their first album is basically a thank you note to all their influences set to a Klaus Schulzey backing track. I'm pretty sure they thank Neu along with Roxy Music, I think. I'll give it a listen.

4 Minutes Later...

Here's the list: Lonnie Donnegan, Eddie Cochran, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, ?, Charley Watts, The Boys, Mick Jagger, The Saints, Bill Wyman, Iggy Pop, Neu, ? cats something, ?, Les Paul, Shenandoah, Roxy Music, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, Elvis Presley, Marc Bolan, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby...

They don't really sound like any of them other than Neu, though.

Hey Folks!
Thanks for that nice Welcomes and your comments.
Wow, Lawrence, what a great Song on the Tube!
I think my perceptions we´re right with this Band.
Maybe here are some more happy Explorers...
I think, the Vinyls are rare, but the Albums are also rereleased on Cd in 2008 (?).

Well thanks for hipping me to these guys... I must confess that I was unaware of them but that'll change when I can figure out who stocks their CDs.
