Walking out on Lou Reed, his wife and John Zorn...

Some of the actual performance:

This pretty much sums up my opinion of that Montreal audience:

Why people would go to see Lou Reed accompanied by his wife and John Zorn at a jazz festival expecting him to bust out Perfect Day, I don't know. That clip you posted sounded great to my ears, anyway. It really heartens me to see that Reed is still being provocative all these years down the line. Vive la skronk!

Who's Simon Cowell? Another one of your right-wing 'friends' along the lines of Christopher Hitchens?

performance seems fine,

but these are three self important wankers

who believe everything they do is ART

in the end,

performers get the audience they deserve

and

vice versa

It's a jazz fest and it was sorta jazzlike. Did people expect them to bust out "sweet jane" with a Zorn sax solo or something?

I'm sure Lou is thrilled with the response -- "bad press" is the best thing possible at this stage of his career. Reminds people what an obnoxious mofo he can be (only the man who recorded The Most Unlistenable Album Ever!)

But as for Zorn, he is capable of playing much better "jazz" than that!!

(I forgot Laurie A. had married Lou . . . ummm, no comment there.)

I like it. It's amazing that anyone could find it offensive though.

He is a Tory, yes. But his main job is presenting talent contests like "Pop Idol" , "The X Factor" and "Britain's Got Talent", and he has been known to be rather critical of some of the people who've auditioned to be on one of his shows - like a modern day Jack Benny or Tony Hatch.

"And that disrespectful, arrogant comment from Zorn! "If you don't like it, get the f*** out of here."

Sorry. I don't see the problem with that. The person involved says he shouted "play some music". Maybe it deserved that, I don't know, I wasn't there. But don't grumble when you get a mouthful back in response to your rudeness.

I like LR but I wouldn't have gone to that because, and let's be honest, you're surely gonna have some idea what a impro night with Reed, Zorn & Anderson is going to sound like - and it's not likely to be my cup of tea!
