Alec Cheer is a musician and artist based in Glasgow and "Future Overtones" is his new album. Alec records as a solo artist as well as with Alistair Crosbie and with the band Pyramidion, amongst other collaborations. If you like the very best in solo guitar recordings with textures, drones and ambient sounds then this is the album to take you through the summer and all future summers.
"Future Overtones" is released in an edition of 50 numbered copies on cdr. Each copy has a cover hand painted by Matthew Shaw with three different wrap around cover designs printed form paintings by Alec Cheer.

Just ordered one - I liked the Spaceship and Black Tempest CDs and figured it is down to your good taste rather than luck so therefore your latest offering has to be worth a go

I hope you'll like it, i think if you like those other two then you probably will. I really think Cheer is a guy to look out for on all of his releases. The last album he self released 'Festive' is one of the best things i've heard in the last year.

It arrived today (thanks!) and what a sublimely beautiful CD it is. In places it reminds me of the CD that Makoto Kawabata recorded with Richard Youngs, which aint a bad thing to be reminded of. With both Youngs and Cheers creating music in Glasgow I'd imagine that there is a fair chance that they are acquaintances and possibly they have even recorded together - that would be worth listening to I reckon

Glad it arrived safely. Really glad to hear you dig it too!

I don't know that Alec Cheer and Richard Youngs have ever recorded together but there is something of a link there....
Alec Records in a duo with Alistair Crosbie
Alistair Crosbie and Brian Lavelle have recorded on and off together for years...
Brian Lavelle and Richard Youngs made the fantastic "Radios" series of albums (which still need to be completed some day)

Hi Vybik,

Yes, a new release soon from The Driftwood Manor.
If you really like the Cheer "Future Overtones" album i would definitely recommend his previous recordings. I think most of it is sold out but there are some free albums to download here too http://mecheer.com/
