i mean, who buys this stuff, really? neu!s 86 + 72 are shite, BTW (this comes from someone who'd happily have "e-musik" played at his funeral)

Do you think the "stunning and previously unheard live recording of the band in Dusseldorf" from 72 is actually something from the Neu Live 1972 Captain trip CD? I've seen many reissues lately with 'previously-unreleased' tracks where it isn't actually the case.

My understanding is that the "Live non-public test" maxi single is an edited version of the Captain Trip Live in Dusseldorf CD. I read an interview last winter when Rother said this. Maybe they added some new stuff at the last minute, but I doubt it. NEU '86 seems to be the same as NEU 4, although maybe(?) there will be new tracks on it. (But these new tracks may just be stuff that Rother and Dinger did independtently of each other during the last decade) On Record Store Day there was a limited release of a "new" NEU single from '86 - Crazy/Euphoria... I was quite excited because I've never heard a NEU song called "Euphoria" before, but it was just a renamed version of "Quick Wave Machine" off NEU 4. I actually like NEU 4 quite a bit, I wrote a review of it before for unsung, but rereleasing it as NEU 86 and claiming it is "new" and rereleasing an edited version of NEU Live '72 (which I agree is pretty weak) and claiming it is unheard is pretty shameful. I admit to a stong Dinger bias in the great Rother/Dinger controversy, but I think this confirms my suspecion that out of the two, it was clearly Dinger who was the "Hero."

You're not kidding. It's exhorbitant in the extreme. Much as I admire Neu!, I'll be passing on this one, no matter how limited it is.

i could buy first issue originals for that. my local record shop (yep, i still have one) offered me this to order but i really couldn't justify paying anywhere near that for it. way too much!

Agreed. I love Neu! but this box is a rip-off, especially as there's no bona fide new material to speak of. Somehow I doubt it would have been released had Klaus Dinger still been alive.
