My sympathies go to his family and friends. Crikey it only seems a short time ago my band supported them in Dumfries, the Union in Turriff and The Renfrew Ferry in Glasgow. Sad news, I've just read this, the memories and the parties. Sad news indeed. Wherever he ends up he'll drive em' bananas..............................

We had a manager at the time called Mick Williams who was friends with Deke Leonard. Micks girlfriend, Magaret, was manageress at the Union Hotel in Turriff (I still stay here) whose hall had been our practise room for years. Man were invited up to play which they did. If I remember correctly Martin Ace on bass, a guy called Pugwash on drums, Deke on keyboards/guitars along with Micky Jones. They were excellent musicians and partied even better. At the time I lived across from the hotel. They drank, ate and smoked everything in sight. Magic. So in turn we were asked to do the other Scottish dates. Their fans even roadied for us in Dumfries but thats another story. As for Micky Jones he was a brilliant guitarist and a good singer. He was a very quiet and deep thinking man but always had a smile on his face. Even tho we played totally different types of music Man where ok with us, drank and partied with us. Much better than some of the so called bigger bands we sometimes supported.

Nice story :-) Always good to hear when a big band haven't let it go to their heads. What was/is your band called?

Used to play in a band called Perfect Stranger for ten years playing gigs around Britain and Europe. I played keyboards/brass/backing vox. Basically we signed to record company that shafted us and didn't really put any of our stuff out saying they "waited for a window of opportunity" According to Pete Easton, on Radio Scotland and Tennents Live we were going to massive. Sadly that didn't happen. The legal people, wisely, told us to remove almost all trace of our existence so former companies couldn't use our music illegally. That explains why there is hardly anything about us on the web which is a shame cos when it was good it was very good. Many bands must have a similar story. When we split I continued to play for other Scottish bands but thru ill health had to stop work/playing. When I'd recovered I started up by myself, 2001, in the music concentrating on teaching and professional gigs. But thats about to change as two of us are back rehearsing with a new drummer, bassist and vocalist. (a different name perhaps as well) Some old stuff might be played but almost all brand new stuff will be done. When its ready, Squid, do you fancy putting your vibe onto some of it? (late summer probably)

We'll get some stuff sent to you don't worry about that. When some songs are presentable I'll put them up on unsung as well. Don't worry I might be Simple Minds daft but we sound nothing like them!
