24) Modern Classical. 24 hours of this show? Wild. I don't know why I called it "The Experimental Institution." I haven't used that name anywhere else than this thread. It's better than just The Podcast though, I guess.

This is more the weirder or spacier type of classical. Featuring: Harry Partch, Olivier Messiaen, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Luciano Cilio, Giacinto Scelsi, Egisto Macchi and a couple of other names ending with i. Hope you dig it. It's probably not morning music, though...

Peace.

Got my computer back up and running so I can get down to some more of these:

Abstract Hip-Hop.
An antidote to those harbouring the delusion that all Hip-Hop is obsessed with gold medallions and cookie-cutter beats. This explores Hip-Hop's weirder side, where the rules get thrown out of the window and almost anything goes.

Featuring: Divine Styler, the Comus-sampling Curse Ov Dialect, Edan, The Freestyle Fellowship, Mike Ladd, Antipop Consortium, Busdriver, Gonjasufi, WWW, Dalek & Rammelzee Vs K-Rob

Hope some of you dig it and I make a few converts to a much-maligned style of music.

They're kinda lo-fi (I only had a 2-inch plug-in mic for the early shows) and a bit low-rent, but I can vouch for the music at least! Hope you enjoy them.

And such a lot already out there!! Are these available as podcasts or from these sites only?

Have you heard Squid Tempest's podcasts featuring many of this site's contributors, btw? http://radio-tempest.blogspot.com/

No probs as I love lo-fi. Interesting to read the list as I've been dabbling in similar fields in the recent past, i.e., leftfield hip hop, Scandinavian, avant garde 'classical' etc.

I'm only just dipping my little toe in with Cosmic Jazz so I'm really looking forward to being turned on.

I really appreciate people who share music like this. Skenna!

They go out on the eco-warriors' site Green Futures on Friday nights, but they haven't got their podcast feature together yet unfortunately.

Oh yeah, I listen to Squid and Dog3000's shows all the time. I'm always gobsmacked at how creative you guys are! I'd rank some of your music as the best I've heard all year. Think what you'd achieve with all that energy spent arguing with Dodge put into getting this stuff out there. ;)

I don't know whether it's because of the internet or shows like Dog and Squid's, but I honestly reckon music's in a better place right now than it's ever been. I can't tell you the amount of times I've been playing some weird spaced out music in the shop I work at and a young teenager walks in knowing exactly what it is.

By the way: Lo-fi! That's a show I haven't done yet. Hehe, it stays afloat for another week. Best of luck with the musical travels and cheers again for giving it a shot.

Very sage words. I'm coming to realise that we all waste a lot of precious brainspace here. Sometimes, a little reflection and exchange of ideas can dissolve too much into recreational habit.

I strongly agree. There are some great minds out there, making some interesting and surprising music and art. We still haven't run dry on fresh inspiration. Even old music is now presented with a revised perspective, thanks to the technology that allows more faithful reproduction giving a better picture of how it was built.

Keep on doing what you're doing Sin Agog. We love it.

Thanks for all the kind words about the Radio Tempest podcasts. I must apologise again for putting them on hold for so long, but a combination of working on new Black Tempest material and recent illness have got in the way I'm afraid.

OK, this one's pretty dear to me. Had to pull off a few King Solomons to whittle the tracklisting down, but here it is:

"Exciting new surveys have proven that the best cure for depression is listening to the sublime music produced in Africa over the years. This hour-long show covers some of the gloriously danceable national products of countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Mali, Tobo and many more. Dig it!"

26) African Music, feat...well, songs from these compilations/albums: Nigeria Special, The World Ends, Ghana Soundz vol 1, Ghana Special, African Scream Contest, Rumba on the River Vol 1, New Ancient Strings (Toumani Diabate), Best of Ethiopiques, The Chimurenga Singles (Thomas Mapfumo), Nigeria 70, Lagos Chop Up...and a couple more.

Hope you guys dig it!
