My first thought was that he looked like Dougal off the Magic Roundabout

I will hold that thought!

Highlight for me (apart from the above mentioned Rob Halford gag) was the live Diamond Head footage. They really were great weren't they?

Got a loud cheer from me when they appeared, both on the doc and on the BBC archive comp.

I'm guessing that documentary is quite old (Bruce D. looked a fair bit younger than in the Maiden footage from 2008), but it doesn't really explain why it stopped in the mid 80s.

Still, a nice watch on a Sunday morning that put some Black into my Sabbath.

That's Def Leppard.

I'm confused.

PS That's Def Leppard before the car accident too.

Would have been massive if their singer hadnt been such a wanker poser whilst stopping Diamond Head failed in the case of Def Leppard, who really did have a bit of a knob of a singer

I met Sean Harris when they did a gig in a pub in Newcastle, he seemed like a really nice bloke, was very complimentry about Southampton too, which in my book makes hin an all round good egg

I grew up in the era of Diamond Head, but to me it was no suprise they never made it big (although, i'm pretty sure they did get to headline the old Birmingham Odeon so they were hardly small)

They just werent very good. The odd great song, and a lot of fluff

If it wasnt for Lars Ulrich constantly going on about em they'd have been forgotten long back

Couldn't disagree more mate, Borrowed Time, imo, is a classic that's duff-track free. It was re-released last year and still stands up (to my ears anyway).

Hahahah im from Sheffield so i dont agree whatsoever The 1st 2 Def Leppard Lps are solid as fuck as are the Diamond Head Lps in particular "Borrowed Time" but at the time general consensus between metal head were in agreement that Diamond Head were bandwagon jumpers and total poseurs. And the clip on the documentary reinforces the view i always had. I always hated cunts with bandanas and scarves on their mic stands. Im more vomit ,denim, greasy dandruff and sticky lager soaked floors.
