Woo hoo!!! love ISB. Looking forward to picking up HBD remastered, but looks like they've changed the 'iconic' front cover for another shot of Mike and Robin from the same the era. Are these gonna be on vinyl too or just CD? I'd Love to own HBD and 5000 Spirits on vinyl.

just got a 1973 live set by them playing as I read that. don't seem to have lost it as much as I'd feared on this listening. Thought they went off the boil as they became involved in scientology. Sad to hear about the change in the HBD sleeve, you sure it's not just an outer cover, or alternatively the 2 covers being reveresed as I think they were in certain territories when it first came out? Not sure, but on Amazon and Bees Knees it seems to be the same cover pic. Would be a shame if they have changed it, i love that cover. Just found out that Sundazed released a 180gsm vinyl version back in 2003/4. Piccadilly records in Manchester have a copy for £19.99. May have to punt for that, i wanna frame it and stick it up on the wall. I'd love to hear it on vinyl too, i like to think it'll sound better (though my old ears ain't what they used to be!).

yeah, the 2 guys on a hilltop, or whatever that location is, was the back cover of the vinyl version I first bought. From what I recall of going through 2nd hand/collectors vinyl emporia it was the cover chosen for several territories as I said above. So the familiar group photo will hopefully be represented elsewhere in the package. Presumably the flip if it's a digipack as some other recent issues on the label seem to have been. was just looking at rateyourmusic which has a function that shows the various sleeves of an lp's various releases. Looks from there like the 2 band members on slope next to stone wall was the original UK release, presumably with the familiar group with children, greyhound & trees shot as back cover. The US sleeve has that 2nd image as its front. I'm more used to that image as front cover, which could be why I prefer it. Do like the other one though. Am assuming that the Elektra Anniversary pairings were remasters. I think the sound on them was decent enough. But the liner notes could have covered the lps involved better. Sounds from the blurb, like the sound on the new Fled'gling should be much improved anyway. Just thinking the Fairport Convention masters have gone through 3 (or is it 4 in a couple of cases?) variations in the last 15years each one improving on the last. I think the last 2 noticeably so. Was just mentally trying to justify a further remaster on these, but if Joe Boyd's doing it it should be commendable. Stevo

Stevo Np frank Zappa 25/9/70 Mom & Dad I remember reading in either White Bicyles or the Be Glad compendium that the original shot was against a deep winter skyline, and record co. folk didn't like it hence the obviously trashy superimposed blue background. I'm going to house my remaster CD in the older box whilst keeping the new packaging!

That "God's Holiday" 8CD ISB bootleg compilation that's floating around the internet is brilliant, at least the first four discs are (ain't heard the rest yet). A real pity Hux or whoever haven't got round to issuing the off-air recordings of the '67-'68 BBC sessions officially, the quality's pretty good. (Caldervalium goes off to dream of impossible Third Ear Band BBC box set, night-night all).

I've just checked Fledgeling's site and they're available to order now. £12 each, or £40 for all four. It's got to be done... EDIT: Marginally cheaper still on Amazon UK.

I have just received the first one in the post this morning, Wee Tam & The Big Huge, and the improved sound quality is immediately apparent and it sounds wonderful. There's far more clarity in the intsrumentation and the depth and range is excellent. Joe Boyd and co. have given it the treatment it truly deserves. Superb.

I'm still playing my original vinyl copies but from what you say about the new one I think I will have to get a set. Where did you get yours? Peace , Lubin
