Loved BLACK TAR PROPHECIES but didnt buy the follow up albums cos on the basis of the excerpts I heard of them they seemed like a different band....all rather easy listening I thought Now I see theyre gonna tour the UK in the spring and am wondering whether to go. Does anyone else find a discepency with their material? Anyone know why? Should I re-visit the recent albums and go to the gig? Are they good live? X

I remember them at ATP, they were like a pretty good mid-70s Hawkwind line-up. Only without the naff sci-fi lyrics and spoken word bits.

What's naff about it? Let's just say I'm not the world's biggest Michael Moorcock fan. Love the music and all that, but when I hear stuff like "The Wizard Blew His horn" it evokes much the same reaction as hearing Jim Morrison read his poetry - ie I just want to break into a Beavis and Buttheadesque sniggering fit. You're right about one thing though - my eyes definitely are convex lenses of ebony embedded in amber, especially when I'm on the same drugs as whoever came up with that phrase was when they thought of it.
