I've got an original copy Of Metal Machine Music on casette from initial 1975 release. Played once. I understand it's quite collectible too. Last saw the same one that i have for 75 dollars. If yours has the RCA CPK-2-1101 catalog # and the paper label on both sides of the cassette and the blue casstte case....it's the same one i got, and you got a steal.

The recorded version almost sounded disappointing after I heard the one on Marc (1st time I'd heard it). One of *the* great TV performances for me - the "I will be king" bit was spine-tingling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkJeClpQ8zQ

Problem is - it sounds like a pub band trying to tune guitars during the track. It could be any avant or indie crew. The lead guitar would never deliver against the backing of any version apart from the album version. I've never been satisfied by anything but the album track. 8)
