I tend to think it's because those net-radio stations are rarely live so you get some repetition. Not to say some of the better ones didn't try to avoid that, of course...
Whenever I can I try to listen to WFMU online, not that I like every show they have, mind, but at least they'll play a few rare-and-intersting things and stuff.
