Yeah they are pretty decent, at least in their early years.
I remember reading somebody comparing Mercury Rev to them early on and it might just fit. THink thiere's less open ended chaos in GG though.

Also remember reading about GG being on some mod djs dancefloor playlists which always intrigued me.
Think I need to pick up the BGO cds of the 1st 4 lps. Since they presumably have pretty decent sound and I've only got a couple of them in very old editions. Plus a Repertoire remaster of Octopus which I'm pretty partial to. I also like the live stuff by them from '71 and '72 though there seem to be a lot of exact duplicates of setlists.
