CRAWLING IN ABERDEENSHIRE / BLACK SHEEP – Julian Cope
CIA is a solo set from Our Man in Wiltshire. Top notch performance. And chat!! Black Sheep is ace!

HEATHEN FRONTIERS IN SOUND – Christophe F / Black Sheep
OK, a gang of blokes of a certain age going on and on about revolution is perhaps a bit Citizen Smith, but there’s a couple of tracks here that rate amongst my favourites of the year.

LIVE EINDHOVEN, EFFENAAR /CLOSER - Joy Division
Really good live set. Prompted me to give the mighty Closer a whirl. It doesn’t really get much better than Decades, does it.

S/T – Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
The sound of Kraftwerk’s toddler taking its first tentative steps or the almost overbearingly nice cousin of the early Cabs? Probably both. It’s not all aged well, but it’s always good to hear the likes of Electricity again. And Julia’s Song is great.

HEART OF DARKNESS – Positive Noise
I’d not played PN’s 1981 debut LP in a long time. Admittedly there’s nothing on here to compete with the mighty Charm 12” (which I also played this week), but the opening track, Darkness Visible, comes close. Very much of its time overall, but I like it.

ALSO...
ELECTRONIK AUDIENCE – Paul Haig
FOREVER CHANGES – Love
SOCIALISME OU BARBERIE (BEDROOM RECORDINGS) – Monade
ONE DAY IT WILL PLEASE US TO REMEMBER THIS – New York Dolls
PERSON PITCH - Panda Bear
ACCELLERATE – R.E.M.
HEY VENUS – Super Furry Animals
