Lanegan takes centre stage on about 75% of this. The other guest vocalists, Gibby, Jason, Mike Patton, etc, pretty much exclusively provide backing vox and harmonies. Rosa Agostino ( who i'm not previously familiar with ) does a couple of excellent duets with ML also.
It's a good a record as i've heard him on in the noughties and it certainly stands comparison with the likes of Bubblegum and Saturnalia IMO. Some of it's quite heavily orchestrated but that's a plus point here as it really complements his melancholic and occasionally wistful lyrics.
As for the Gong thing, don't worry, you ain't on the guest list despite how much i'd like to see elves dancing with pixies ;-)
