Clearly there's a little bitterness that Cluster never got the fiscal rewards that ol'Brian did.

Missed this doc, but gonna watch it on iplayer later.

Anyway, if Cluster's beef is about Eno's sales compared to themselves, surely it'd be a bit churlish. After all, the fact that Eno had done two albums with Cluster is what turned me onto them in the first place. This was way before the Krautrocksampler days, and Eno's involvement was all I had to go on to recommend them. I doubt I'm the only one who bought Cluster albums on the strength of the connection. So, if anything, it was Eno who introduced Cluster to a UK audience. Still, I can't imagine Dieter Moebius producing the next Coldplay album. Thank fuck.

Enjoyed that programme although was a bit disappointed that Wolfgang ex Kraftwerk gave away the secret location of Kling Klang studios. Idiot.

He hates Ralf and Florian though doesn't he? Probably did it deliberately to spite them.

...yeah that's what i thought. He also had another stab at their upbringings and expensive tastes in shoes - what that had to do with their achievements as artists i don't know. Think he's slightly bitter about the whole experience.

I enjoyed that, although I thought it could have been a two or three part thing (like the Prog one shoulda been) which might have given more time to following the Krautrock influence on other artists.

One thing that struck me was just how genteel and polite the various artists interviewed were. When you think how in yer face and 'tudey we expect a lot of our rock stars to be, it was quite refreshing to see these soft-spoken folk reminiscing.

Good stuff though, and another feather in BBC4's cultural cap.

ps Bit weird they didn't mention SupaStuka though hee hee.

You guessed I wanna download this prog and convert it to video file so that I can watch anytime. Googled a few sites but still not seen a definite solution. BTW I understand why they use DRM and The I-player is great but what annoys me is that it times out after x weeks

I use this place: http://thebox.bz/login.php - basically a place for ex-pats to find current UK TV progs. You have to join in order to download the dvix files but quality is good and with easy to find freeware you
can burn directly to DVD. It's free as such but you have to maintain a ratio in order to keep yer membership (ie, share as much as you take).

Already burned mine to DVD ;-)

Some other good stuff here too if you've got time to search.

It's really easy to get too hung-up on this stuff. All the Germans I know don't have a problem with it. And I don't have a problem with them calling me an Inselaffe (island monkey) whenever I'm over there, or French people calling me a Rosbeef. It's all usually just taken as gentle ribbing amongst Europeans these days. Anyway, I like the fact that 'Krautrock' translated literally means 'cabbage skirt'
