Been entertaining my in laws from Campania in Southern Italy.Hopin' to get out there again asap. My choices this week have been hardly gnostic rock and roll but deffo undeservedly unsung. Gesualdo...Madrigals Pergolesi/Scarlatti Stabat Mater Also other stuff from 16-18thc Italian music such as Monteverdi and Tartini.

Strangely enough, I've just come back from holidaying in Southern italy and I've been discovering Gesualdo's music too. I find it interesting that, although I know very little about medieval music, the madrigals I've heard sound spooky and quite unsettling compared to say, Montiverdi's (which were far more soothing). I've just been reading the Wiki entry on Gesualdo ... bleedin' eck - he was a bit barmy, wasn't he? Even by the standards of your common-or-garden mad genius he seemed a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Thriller by Michael Jackson. Gave it a spin upon hearing the news of his death and found myself playing it a couple of times. It's not really "my thing" to be honest. But I do see the greatness within it, and can appreciate it for what it is. My Life in The Bush of Ghosts by Brian Eno and David Byrne. Released the year before Thriller... now, this is my kind of thing. And it still sounds as fresh and new as it ever did. A true classic. The World Is Saved by Stina Nordenstam. As good as anything she's done. Achingly beautiful. And of course, lots and lots of Bowie.
