The Zappa's have finally made it to Vilnius, I was there in 1995. Saulis Pukstis in the film made the whole reason happen. Hopefully there are some Zappa fans on this forum who will dig this.

It's nice to see them pay respect to the fans who created this instead of trying to banish it because it is not an officially sanctioned product. Let's hope this trend continues.

I'm going to see ZPZ again in August, looking forward to that one.

From the same source, footage of the Vilnius concert, including Dweezil talking about the Zappa statue and what it means to him.

I was there in 1995 when the Vilnius bronze was unveiled. The bust was done by a bunch of artists, it has more significance than a fan tribute, there was a creative mythology that evolved - there is distinctive resonance about FZ which the old iron curtain countries understood, and the reason why Gail and Dweezil are emotional is that they finally grasped what FZ means to them, and also how beautifully the work of the Lithuanian artists has become. It has needed the last 13 years for these factors to emerge.

I got in touch with the Ryko staff member who was there in 1995, the London office made sure that Ryko in Salam Massachusetts knew and message was sent to Gail Zappa. It looks like she did not tell the kids.

Having gone all maudlin' over the last few days..FZ played his last proper gig 21 years ago last tuesday. He did get to conquer the old Iron Curtain countries as he was a pre-revolutionary hero. He took his guitar with him and no doubt with minimal practice came out with this beautiful improvisation.
