Does anyone out there in HHland know who recorded the extremely groovy piece of music that accompanies this (unintentionally hilarious, it has to be said) scene where Mimsy Farmer gets dosed with acid? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jjnTh-prwo&feature=related (The track I'm referring to starts at 3.36) It starts out sounding like a collision between the Hollywood Studio Orchestra and the Standells, but as the trip intensifies it gets swamped in delay to the point where it gets pretty far out, even by 1967 standards - sounding like some weird mutant hybrid of lounge and early krautrock. Whatever it is, it's not on the soundtrack album (although it could be by Sidewalk Sounds, who provide three other tracks) and I can't find any info about it on AMG either. I'm planning on sampling it for one of my own tracks, but from the point of view of sound quality it would be useful if I could find a CD version to source it from - assuming it was ever released.

Can't tell you offhand but can tell you that the film gets shown intermittently on MGM movies if you have any access to that channel. Might just mean you can get a cleaner copy if so.

'Ask fred' is one of the regularly interesting bits of MOJO magazine. Perhaps you should ask Fred.

The score/incidental music for the film (as opposed to the soundtrack) was written by Fred Karger

Or if it's drug related, as it is - you should ask Frank. http://i21.ebayimg.com/06/i/001/2d/41/9fbc_2.JPG

Popel Vooje, I STILL don't know the group responsible for that clip that starts at 3:36. I know it's not The Sidewalk Sounds because their tracks were recorded by Davie Allan & The Arrows ("Make the Music Pretty") while "The Sunset Theme" was a session Davie Allan did for a Hondells record a couple years previous (It originally was released as "Sidewinder," then reused once more as "Little BSA" credited to The Buddies & The Compacts.) Even then, there are many songs credited to The Sidewalk Sounds that are not The Arrows (on later Sidewalk/Tower soundtrack albums too numerous to name here.) Whoops: "Like My Baby" was by Drew (Drew Bennett was the Arrows' bassist, and The Arrows provided the backing.) The mystery track isn't available anywhere in legit form. But I can tell you one thing: It's a cover of The Butterfield Blues Band's "East/West." For all I know, it may be The Mugwump Establishment. But something tells me it was probably session men. I may have to down a couple of Delrium Tremens tonight and see if anything comes to me. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA
