Here's a message from outer (My)Space:

It's official! Hawklords are confirmed to headline an all-day 'implosion' at London's Roundhouse on Sunday, March 8th. Following the success of the now-legendary 'Hernia Bay' Robert Calvert memorial concert, ex-Hawkwind/lords Nik Turner, Jerry Richards, Terry Ollis, Martin Griffin, Alan Davey, Adrian Shaw, Harvey Bainbridge, Ron Tree and Steve Swindells will be performing with special guests, including Bridget Wishart and Huw Lloyd-Langton (more to be confirmed) and four dancers choreographed by Angel Flame.

It promises to be a spectacular event, and will also be a special tribute to the late Barney Bubbles, who had such massive creative imput with Hawkwind/lords (an excellent book about BB called 'Reasons To Be Cheerful' by Paul Gorman is now available in Paul Smith shops worldwide).

The stage set will be based on his original designs for The Space Ritual, which were never actually used, so this will be a first. Think Pythagorus and the music of the spheres. Doors open at 3pm. 'Space this watch' for more details, including support acts, as they emerge.

Tickets are now available from...

Yeah, my ticket is hopefully in the post and wending its way hither as I type, and I'm looking forward to it. Like anything Turner is involved with it'll either be ace or completely shambolic (or both!). I just hope someone's taken the trouble to make sure that someone else hasn't already laid claim to the "Hawklords" name. No more Hawkwars please

Did you get or see the 'Satyricon' DVD? There was a nice revealing interview in the extras menu.

Yeah, I've got "Satyricon" and know what you mean about the interviews. I was also present when the gig was filmed, not often you get a momento of something you attended other than village/school pantos!

Ha! Me, too! They filmed two shows for it, a few months apart. Space Ritual performed better at the first show, but the second looked better. Hardly any footage remained in the final production, sadly. I believe there were some technical problems with the original recording, hence the second being needed. Promoter Dave Bassett pulled in a lot of favours to get that show together.

EDIT: I might have to watch that again. You in shot?

From what I remember of the terms of the court ruling, Nik was expressly forbidden from using any name that contained the words 'Hawk' and 'Wind', so I can't help but think he's being deliberately provocative. I can't understand why he's decided to use the Hawklords name when Space Ritual would have been more relevant to the kind of show that they are planning and wouldn't have been legally contentious. Also, Space Ritual have made a pretty good name for themselves and are a credible band.

However, the show sounds great and I wish I could go. I just hope that the choice of name doesn't stir up any more resentment or trouble!
