FSOL and VdGG both formed at Manchester University though that's not quite the same thing.

I liked James around the time of their second Sire album (88 ish). They used to play like their lives depended on it (almost Fugazi like intensity) and then quickly went to shit.
I guess Blood and Fire is a Mancheter label. Though that is stretching things.
