Think Albarn self produced a lot of the Gorillaz stuff but Dangermouse def does stuff on the 2nd album.

The "Jaque le cont" guy you're thinking of (Stuart Price to his mum I think) has recorded some great tech house n pop under the name "Les Rhythms Digitales"* and he also over saw the housier productions on Madonna's last couple of albums.

*An old LRD tune soundtracked that citroen ad where the car turns into a Transformer type thing and dances about.
